Naming clothes, hygiene, and new blog...

Apparently, Pipalicious names her clothes...at least those she loves particularly well.  The other day we were organizing her drawer and putting clean pants away and I heard her exclaim, "Oh, there you are, Jewelie!!!"  I turned to see her embracing her pants with sparkles all over them.  I hope this doesn't bode ill for when she is a young adult :).

You know it is pathetic when I notice that someone didn't flush the toilet and my first thought is gratitude that there is toilet paper in there as well to know that they at least wiped themselves.  Yes, we are focusing on the extreme basics.  Hand-washing and flushing have always been encouraged, expected and preached.  Apparently, I discovered there is an even deeper level to personal hygiene that needs to be addressed and I celebrate any progress I see :)!

In order to keep all my "homeschooling" schedules, ideas, etc. in one place, I have started a new blog that just addresses homeschooling specific experiences.  While I believe every parent "homeschools" in that every parent is primarily responsible for the education of their children, since I do it without using the public school system, I do have a bunch of ideas and mind-sets that I have collected over the years and use.  I have had a few people ask about them specifically, so I thought that I would put that in a place where they do not have to "wade" through the journaling of our family as well :).

It is at http://homeschoolingisforthebees.blogspot.com/, and is not nearly where I want it to be yet, even to get started, but it has been fun to start!  I will be putting daily homeschool specific plans, etc. on there from here on out, for any who wonder where those experiences have gone.

While I dread more time on the computer, I feel that it is somewhere God wants me to record things for now, so here goes! :)

Christmas performances 2014 links

Here is a link to the Christmas performance for my kids, for my future reference. (I don't know that I would watch something like this of other people's children, so will not be hurt if no one watches this of mine :)....)

Kid's blogs

Per my mom's request, Avot figured out a way to get to my kid's "invitation only" blogs.  If you want an invitation, just let me know, and I can get you one.  We just didn't want anyone who wanted to randomly surf around the net to find their sites.

Just look at the tab above, under Kid's blogs, and you should be able to follow the links if you are signed into blogger under your email account.  I don't know everything about these types of things, so let me know if there is a glitch and I will try to help you.

Enjoy :).

Grown-up, Sick Pipalicious, Sister bonding with Spooner, and devotional

Hava is all about "being grown-up": "Mom!  When am I going to be grown-up?  When I am this big?"  "Mom, I am fat so I am grown-up."  "Mom!  I think I am grown-up!" "Mom, I cut my waffle all by myself, so soon I am going to be grown-up...and I am going to be a teenager."

Pipalicious is celebrating Christmas the same way she did Thanksgiving...although this time she didn't wait until we were sitting down to open presents to throw-up.  She did it a few days early, so maybe she will get it out of her system before the big day.  Hopefully, none of the rest of us get it into their system before the big day :); that is the trick!

This morning, Papaya and Hava did their usual "over-stimulation" of Spooner.  He gets passed back and forth (with Mommy's help) and gets smothered with hugs and kisses.  This morning was particularly sweet.  Hava was waiting for her turn while I got Papaya settled, and Spooner flailed his little arms in her direction.  "Mom!  He wants me!"  He sure does, and he totally made her day!

Our kids each have "a day"--a day to pick the devotional stuff, pick the songs for the meals, and pray at the meals.   I love to see what they pick.  Some want something different every time, and others pick the same songs and activities meal after meal, week after week :).

I think that I will start marking down some of the devotional stuff they pick, because they are really special sometimes, and sometimes just really characteristic of that child at that time, and it would be fun to remember :)...like when Chugger-dude regularly picks "...when Herald Angels Sing, remember that song, mom?"

Today, Liliputian found a special one, one that helps me to think of the meaning of the season.  We have been watching one of those special "Jesus movies" (as my kids call them) about every day for devotional.  They are on lds.org--the ones that the First Presidency of the LDS church initiated last year.  It has really brought home to me the life of Christ, with His mercy and love for each of us.

Well, today, Liliputian found an "old" mormon message at the following link:

An Easter Declaration

It is beautiful.  Thanks, Liliputian!

Cool music link!

I have long loved many of the songs created for youth from our church, especially some from the Especially For Youth program, but haven't bitten the bullet to pay for downloading them.

Good news!

Avot found an awesome youth music station that features many of my favorites at lds.org youth music.  It streams in a bunch of incredibly peaceful and inspiring numbers that is a great mix.

What a great daughter :).
