Stuffed dogs cleaning the bathroom and other wonders

Today has been a day of wonders.

For instance, Chugger-dude showed me how his pet stuffed dog can actually clean the bathroom mirrors!  He told me he is going to teach his dog to do the whole thing.  (Maybe he thinks it will be his ticket out of a job.)

I also got a bucket-brigade moving the rest of our food storage from the basement to the trailer we rented--all for a batch of cookies.  Boy, am I lucky my kids like cookies!  We even had Papaya, Hava, and Pipalicious bringing up containers of salt.  Fortunately we have eaten through about a third of it, so it was less work than we moved in, at least.  Q-dawg wanted us to finish off the whole thing, but it's not called a year's supply for nothing!  I guess I had our supply pretty accurately figured.  Of course, I was supplementing with other foods in our meals:  we didn't have wheat meat, bean soup, and wheat bread-varieties for every meal, although we have become fairly good at rehydrating shredded potatoes for hashbrowns so that they are rather tasty :).

However, speaking of food, today I also found out that too many snacks (like the aforementioned cookies) can do the unthinkable: my 14-year-old growing boy actually had to consider whether he wanted to eat tacos, knowing that he had dinner clean-up to do along with it.  And then he turned it down!  "I'm too tired, mom, and it's not worth eating a taco if I have to do dinner help."  Gasp!  Wow.

Wonder-boy Lek is also getting into the groove with online seminary, doing his first complete week on time today!  He is awesome: "How much do I need to do to pass, mom?" (He doesn't like the short-answer commenting parts--especially when the computer keeps losing what he has typed so he has to do it twice :S...I completely understand.  I remember several papers, etc. that I didn't save before losing all my work.)  It has been fun listening to them get on every Friday at 6 am for their group, online class once a week.  It has been a blessing already, and I am grateful to have it for when we go to Hungary.  Who knows?  Maybe they will have one there we can transfer to, but for now, we can keep it going.  My friend found out that graduating from seminary gives you ecclesiastical authority to preach the gospel in certain countries--you just show a card that shows you graduated and it allows you to be a missionary!  How cool!  At first, I figured as long as they were doing seminary, I didn't care what credit they were marked down for in the records, as we have transferred from one seminary to another.  Who knew?  Now I am more careful about all that :).

Final wonder, I am almost done with Chugger-dude's scrapbook (pictures that I printed up 2 1/2 years ago!), so it can get stored away with our food storage at Misty's house and all our other scrapbooks.  Of course, my pages aren't very fancy, but they are there, and the kids love them! It's like a personal acknowledgment of their childhood, a personal celebration of who they are and what their life has been so far.  Whatever it is, there is a special joy I see in their eyes that makes it worth it :).  Thank goodness I can start using this blog for it :).

And now, with Lek, the Goob, Liliputian, Chugger-dude and Hava at their Aunt Misty and Uncle BJ's for the night, Avot and Pipalicious at Aspyn and Sophy's, and Q-dawg finishing up some final things at his work, I am catching up on this blog while my darling 2-year-old sits next to me, playing with her toes and watching "Flibberaloo" '(or something like that)--some Veggie Tale re-inactment of the Good Samaritan put to rhyme with music...a must see. :)  What an awesome day!
